Athletics Team Liaison Role

Each Amherst Middle School and High School sports team will have a Team Liaison who serves as the primary connection between the team and the Amherst Tigers Booster Club. The liaison helps keep coaches and families informed while ensuring that every team has a voice within the Booster Club.

The Team Liaison should preferably be a parent or guardian of a current athlete. If no parent or guardian is available, a member of the coaching staff may represent the team.

The Booster Club will provide clear information and support along the way . Team Liaisons serve for the full school year and are encouraged to stay involved beyond their team’s season by sharing occasional updates, attending Booster Club meetings when possible, and supporting club-wide efforts. Your involvement helps build a stronger athletic community and raise funds to enhance the athletic experience in our district.

Team Liaison Responsibilities

Establish a Communication Channel
At the beginning of the season, work with the coach to determine the best way to communicate with team families, whether through FinalForms, the team communication app, email, phone, or another approved method. 

Keep Communication Flowing
Share relevant team updates, volunteer opportunities, Booster Club information, and other important details with the coach and team families.

Support and Represent the Team
Work with the coach to identify needs or opportunities that could benefit the program and communicate appropriate requests to the Booster Club. Attend Booster Club meetings when possible or review the monthly updates to stay informed.

Assist with Team Recognition and Events
Help communicate and coordinate activities such as Senior Night (Varsity), team recognition, banquets, and other team events. Check with the coach early to allow time for planning and recruiting volunteers. 

Encourage Participation and Tiger Spirit
Encourage families to attend athletic events, volunteer, participate in Booster Club activities, and support Amherst teams.

Support End-of-Season Appreciation
Remind team captains to organize a simple token of appreciation for the coach. Captains should lead the effort, with the Team Liaison assisting if needed.

Help Identify the Next Liaison
Before the end of the commitment, help introduce the role to other team families and identify a possible liaison for the following year.

Role Boundaries

The Team Liaison is a positive communication and coordination resource. The liaison does not make coaching decisions, address playing-time concerns, enforce team policies, or speak on behalf of the coach unless specifically asked. Concerns involving an athlete, coaching decisions, or team policies should be addressed directly with the coach through the appropriate school procedures.
